Dressage Saddle Pads - FAQs

Why choose a LeMieux Dressage Saddle Pad?

LeMieux dressage pads are crafted for comfort and optimum performance. Made from high-quality fabrics, they’re ideal for covering weight-bearing areas under the saddle. They absorb shock and help maintain an even temperature, too, keeping even the most sensitive-skinned horses comfortable.

What are LeMieux Dressage Saddle Pads made of?

You’ll find a range of dressage saddle pads in various fabrics to enhance your horse’s comfort. This includes suede, woven satin, mesh, cotton and merino wool. We also have self-cooling dressage pads for horses that sweat a lot as they work.

Many of our pads have an ultra-soft, temperature-controlling bamboo lining. Bamboo is a fantastic material for horse riding, as it wicks away sweat and moisture from skin to keep your horse cool.

What are LeMieux Dressage Saddle Pads for?

LeMieux dressage saddle pads have a high wither and elasticated D-ring tabs designed to fit a range of dressage saddles. They also have a straighter cut than traditional pads to accommodate the shape of your saddle. This makes them ideal for both competitions and practice sessions around the yard.

What is the thickness of LeMieux Dressage Saddle Pads?

The thickness of our pads vary from model to model and are appropriate for the activity and purpose they are designed for to maintain breathability and protection for your horse's back.

When is your Dressage Saddle Pad fitted correctly?

A correctly-fitting dressage pad is important in ensuring your horse’s comfort. Start by placing the saddle pad on the horse’s back, making sure it doesn’t sit too far forward. When properly fitted, the whole area of the saddle in contact with the horse's back should be covered by the saddle pad.

Ensure you pull the spine of the dressage pad up into the gullet of the saddle to allow for freedom over the horse's spine.

How should you look after LeMieux Dressage Saddle Pads?

You can wash your LeMieux dressage pad in the washing machine at 30 degrees. Close all fastenings first and remove dirt, hair and dried sweat with a stiff brush. This will keep it looking its best for longer. Once washed, pull the pad to the correct shape when damp and air dry it away from a heat source.

Always check the specific instructions on your saddle pad before washing.

How long can you use LeMieux Dressage Saddle Pad?

With the right care, LeMieux dressage saddle pads can last for years. Our pads are designed to withstand wear in areas with high friction, but wear and tear naturally occur over time. This means that eventually, all dressage saddle pads need replacing. How soon depends on how often and how long you ride.
